Samsung NX-R to be launched at Photokina 2012?

According to anonymous sources and Photo Rumors Samsung is preparing some surprises for Photokina 2012, namely the launch of a retro styled compact system camera, the Samsung NX-R (where R stands for retro and range finder like).

Samsung NX-R the reinterpretation of Leica?

According to rumors The Samsung NX-R compact system camera does indeed have some retro style and rangefinder like resembling close the Leica X2.

Some of the leaked specifications of the Samsung NX-R compact system camera:

  • APS C size sensor
  • 20.3 mega pixels sensor (same as used by the Samsung NX20)
  • Interchangeable lenses with the proprietary Samsung NX system
  • Magnesium alloy body
  • Retro Style Camera with operations executed directly with dials and buttons at camera similar to the Fuji X-Pro1
  • 10 fps
  • Max shutter speed 1/8000 sec
  • built in wifi

If rumors happen to be true for sure Samsung will have a winner here and the Samsung NX-R compact system camera may prove to be the silver bullet for the Fuji X-Pro1 that has awed photography world at time of its launch due to its retro style nature and usage of latest technologies.

    No EVF? No winner.

    Besides the sensor is not as good as Fuji X-Pro 1 or Sony NEX7, so Samsung would need an improved one with better DR and high ISO IQ. Better processing speed would also be welcome.

    Described as is in the above specs, this camera is just a NX210 with a retro body. I’d prefer a new high end camera, with better specs and new features like focus peaking and IBIS.

    Samsung can’t win if the above specs are right.
